I wasn't expecting much when I ordered these, and I thought they were nice, but after I took it apart, I was really impressed with the engineering that went into these. A normal cotton swab leaves behind bits of cotton, and the cotton doesn't stay in place, and will move on the stick. These foam swabs don't have that problem. Notice on my picture, the stick under the foam swab, has little protrusions to prevent the foam from sliding up and down on the stick. Notice that the stick under the foam is flat, like a canoe paddle, and not round like a traditional cotton swab. There are so many things I'll be using these swabs for, that I couldn't even name them all. If I ever need to work on a tape player again (I'm an electronics tech), I'll be using this to clean the heads. I'll also be using these foam swabs next time I need to clean my gun. From now on, I'll probably be grabbing these 99% of the time I used to use a cotton swab.
